Nicakos - Thundering Protector

Nicakos is an interesting case, a Lawful Good Centaur that has earned his keep as a city watch guard. Calling the small city of Whitehorn home, the surrounding plains of The Ride are home to Barbarians that ride steeds of their own, and will attack any who are out in the plains as fair game. This is how Nicakos found his purpose, being able to keep up with their mounts and defend his city within the same stride.

Background - Nicakos grew up along side his fellow nomadic kind, and when they traveled up to The Ride, the mounted barbarians were upon them, thinking at first they were just riders on their plain. This was their big mistaken and suffered loses, only because it was a scouting party and not a full raid.

The Centaurs made their way to the city of Whitehorn, where Nicakos saw then more desperate folk there suppressed and suffering as a result of the occasional raid the barbarians of the plain. When his herd decided to move on south after a few days of rest, Nicakos chose to stay behind, seeing a need for him and his abilities, limited and young as they may be.

It wasn't until he became established in Whitehorn did he discover an expanded graveyard on the end of the city. Dozens of headstones scattered the area, some old, some painfully new... He found a single, moss covered shrine to the EarthCaller. This is not a deity he was familiar with, we began to ask around Whitehorn. This EarthCaller, primarily a gnomish god, focuses on plants and trees of the surface world, and how all life relates back into that cycle. Nicakos began to study and learn, devoting more time and energy into following and earning the trust of the EarthCaller, to instill in him the means to protect those who know and understand the gods grand design in The Ride.
