Full Moon Axe

The Full Moon Axe is one of very specific function, but oh boy does it do work when it does fit that need!

This is an item I originally designed to be used by the Big Evil Bad Guy that characters could loot as a reward (assuming they survive). Being a Champion or Battle Priest of a cult of lycanthrope beings, the wielder would be the shining beacon of leadership to these cultists. Rallying to them, they transform into the horde of beasts capable of wrecking a party of adventurers!

If your players think they have an upper hand by knowing the Moonbeam spell, they would be sorely mistaken! A wizard with Polymorph? Ha! This axe affects all were-creatures the same, preventing unwanted transformation.

And after the dust settles and your players have wrecked yet another attempt to overthrow the powers that be, an axe with a full circle blade rests near the charred remains of hybrid beast leader. And your Cleric has been bitten several times by numerous Lycanthropes, sure that the curse and seeped into their blood. Well, now, the axe that rallied their enemy, can now be used to control and dampen the curse, refusing the transformation if they or their allies choose to wield the axe.
