Primordial Talon

The Primordial Talon is the weapon of choice for those who aren't the best at surviving magic blasts to the face! haha Even the mighty Barbarian with their "all but psychic resistance" can benefit from this axe! Taking 1/4 damage from a ranked up Fireball and than dishing it back out in the next swing!

Often times I find my melee players becoming irritated when enemies are out of reach or dealing a ton of damage before the fighter can get close enough to do something. This is sometimes dealt with by the DM (myself) working one's tail off to manage and balance combat. But sometimes a pair of Oni are starring the group down and Cone of Colds the field! Just picture it, Wizard gets downed from failing their save, Warlock has no spells left, Ranger just got their beast companion downed and fighting off the 2 humans trying to kill it, and the Cleric is now doing their holy work by making sure no one dies...Their is your Fighter, Primordial Talon in hand, glowing bright blue from the staggering blast that froze the ground beneath their feet. Your Fighter charges and swings, crashing down not only 1d8+2+STR, but also 4d8 cold damage that cripples one Oni who is now clinging on to their regeneration as the other prepares Darkness to try to protect their mate...

Oh yeah, that's the kind of mood we're going for, make that Fighter shine! Granted, they can shine in a lot of circumstances, especially on the battlefield, but melee fighters seem to have a lot more limitations against the high magic world of D&D. Giving them the ability to survive some magic and even dish some out will make them feel a bit better about life! haha

Now, obviously this weapon doesn't just go to the guy who can't cast magic. Maybe they are a Barbarian/Druid, or a Cleric/Fighter, on a Hex Warlock! The choice is yours! I hope this weapon finds its way into your game!
